HOMO SARGASSUM Catalogue

An Alliance between Contemporary Art, Science and Technology to support Public Health and let our Planet BREATHE AGAIN

A multi-year & multidimensional project conceived and organized by Louisa Marajo & Vanessa Selk

DONATE

Beginning as an idea initiated by artist Louisa Marajo and co-conceived with Vanessa Selk, Founding Artistic Director of the TOUT-MONDE Art FOUNDATION, HOMO SARGASSUM has been a multiyear, multidimensional and collaborative program made possible by the hands of many (see detailed acknowledgements page 164), in close partnership with the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts and the Winthrop-King Institute for Contemporary French and Francophone Studies. The program included an artist residency, a short film, a contribution to an educational comic book, a symposium and an exhibition presented in two venues so far. This catalog intends for the firsttime to reflect this multidimensional collaborative work over the years, with a particular focus on the exhibition presented at the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts from September 2024 to March 2025. Thank you to the artists, scientists, scholars, organizations, staff, and others who spent countless hours in bringing together HOMO SARGASSUM, with the support of our generous sponsors.
